Ok, the post title may be a bit over the top but my first P90X breakfast about killed me. Taste wasn’t the issue – it was quantity. I am not a big breakfast eater but tried a whole wheat bagel (carb), two strips of turkey bacon (protein) and 6 egg whites (protein). I’m here to tell you that 6 egg whites is a gut bomb of tasteless protein. I’ll have to adjust that piece of the diet.
Lunch: I dropped in to my usual place McDonalds…and ordered the $1 side salad and water. I brought 6 oz of chicken (2 proteins) from home to top it off and added just a smidgen of Newman vinaigrette dressing. Not bad…actually pretty darn tasty. And only $1.29 with a water cup.
Snack: Cheese and a Granny Smith
Workout: Chest and back. Here’s the deal. I can do 15 regular push ups. Problem is that this workout does about eight sets of push ups – after the first one or two – I can’t do any more. I think I’ll do knee push ups next time to allow me to do more. As for pull ups – I can do one. Seriously. You are allowed to put one foot on a chair so using a chair I am able to do enough to work the muscles.
Dinner: Salad with chicken, protein shake (nasty), half a protein bar…
Congrats on starting! The worst is getting your body used to the first week, after that its going to be progress. But be ready to be sore for at least 2 weeks!
I am still excited about the program and yes I am sore from head to toe. The good thing about being sore is that you realize there are muscles hiding under the layer of fat.
I just read that you don’t like your protein shake. I was wondering what kind you are using? I’ve started using protein during this last round of P90x and I’ve fallen in love with the protein I have – Gold Standard 100% Whey, extreme milk chocolate.

I don’t imagine that anyone can make one that tastes great. Also, since that post i have come to think it’s OK. Given the choice of eating another big serving of protein or chugging 8 oz of Matrix – I go Matrix.

I don’t buy it through GNC but it was the first place that popped up. I choose to mix it with some Milk and it really does taste like a chocolate milk shake. I’ve tried a couple different types of protein, but this is the one that did it for me.
True, that wasn’t a protein drink, just trying to celebrate a bit before starting P90x and now that I started I can’t tolerate even a small amount of alcohol anymore as I had 4 brews last night and feel like a train wreck. Personally, I think that’s just Tony Horton’s way of keeping me on the diet, Ha!
I just started the Dr. Bernstein diet. Keep going man. It won’t kill us but giving up might. YOU CAN DO ITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!
