Help! I Fell Off the Wagon

The last few days with round two looming I didn’t just fall off the wagon. I jumped off with full intent!
CiCi’s pizza buffet today after church. Bought a dozen KrispyKremes for our house guests and I put away more than my share. But that’s ok. I planned to let it go for a couple of days for tomorrow I begin round 2.





Day 36: It’s gettin’ hot in here

When my daughter and I started on this P90X journey we had no room in the house to really do the workouts so we cleared some space in the (non-climate controlled) garage. In March it was a bit cool but a few minutes into a workout and things tend to warm up – so no big issue. Now that we are into April and having a few days of record heat with a daytime high of 89 expected today we may need to regroup.  We initially started out working out together but after a week or so her best time and my best time to work out went in different directions so maybe we can somehow move this indoors.  April may be tolerable but a Southeast Summer in my garage is unhealthy.

Cheat alert. Semi annual dental checkup today and I ALWAYS hit Chic-Fil-A afterwords for a biscuit and small coke.  I am here to tell you that it was delicious.





Day 30: Pictures delayed

Stuck at work until very late but got home at dusk planning to have my partner in P90X crime shoot my 30 day pics and the whole house was deserted. So no pictures. Hopefully tonight.

Plyo last night and I was red-lining it.

Cheat Alert: At work today and feeling a bit puny again. I have had 5 8oz 100 calorie pepsi’s in the fridge at work since March 1 – mocking me daily. I killed one mid morning with a pack of reduced fat Lance Toast Chee.





Day 26, 27 and 28

Well whatever I was feeling seems to have subsided (mostly) so I did Core Synergistics Friday night. Not much to say about it.  And since it was Friday night I had (Cheat Alert) two slices of cheese pizza.

Saturday morning I had assistant coaching duty for my daughters Upwards Soccer team. Aside from knowing next to nothing about soccer it went pretty well. I made them run a couple of laps with me and I am proud to say they were breathing harder than me. I came home, relaxed a bit and did YogaX, stopping as I always do at the one hour mark which is about when the Crane move appears. I did try it again today but I have to tell you. I think that is a move some Yoga-dude came up with just to have a move that very few people can do. I mean – what the heck is the point in that one? really…

Tomorrow is rest or stretch (aka rest).

I am really looking forward to next week because that means I go to phase two in the diet and I go from 1 carb to three! Let’s see…in addition to my wheat chex I can have rice, or a bun with my veggie burger or a tortilla wrap for my proteins. Plus I get more fruit and one less veggie and one less protein.

And last but now least, Tuesday is day 30 and photo day. Hopefully I can get them that day. I need to shoot in daylight to keep lighting close to my day 0 pics as possible.

All in all, everything is progressing nicely on the P90X front.





Day 25: StretchX did not happen

I just wasn’t in the mood for StretchX. I did pop in the DVD and take a look and guess what – it was all stretching. I’m feeling a bit of a cold/sinus flare up coming on which seems to be draining my strength a bit (Cue baby whining)  so I decided to skip last night.

This morning I did wake up feeling a bit tight (or is that achy?). Assuming all goes as planned tonight and Saturday I’ll try to do Stretch X on Sunday.

This morning I was battling with a desire for a sausage McMuffin. But I went ahead and downed my V8 low sodium. Measured out my Wheat Chex and…No milk. Foiled again! Cheat Alert: So I got a sausage McMuffin on the way to work. Wasn’t that good.

Note to self. Pick up milk on the way home.





Day 24: My Cheats

Rather than bore the millions of you following my progress with what I eat every day I have decided to simply post the things I eat that I am not supposed to eat – my “Cheats”.

Cheat Alert: Last night two pieces of Hungry Howie’s cheese pizza (light sauce) and 8 oz of Pepsi. (It was late, I was weak)

Last night was KenpoX; Tonight StretchX – haven’t done that one yet.

Day 20, 21 & 22: That’s so sweet

Have you noticed that my posts are getting shorter?

At the risk of turning into a health food zealot I have noticed something strange. I had a Reese cup the other day (yes, in addition to the mallow cup – but a few days later) and it tasted extra sweet. Almost too sweet. Weird. I’ve heard it said that your tastes will change when you eat healthy for a while. Maybe so.

Now don’t go crazy and think I didn’t like the taste of the Reese cup – I did! I’m just sayin’…

Workouts: I’m on my recovery week I think…Started with Yoga. Not lovin’ it.





Day 18 and 19: Pushing through

Yoga on day 18. Only did the first hour which includes most of the strength moves. The last thirty minutes is balance and stretching. I just didn’t have the patience.

Day 19 was legs and  back plus ab rippers. Really felt the legs and tried extra hard on the wall sits (I hate those).

Diet is still on track with the usual stuff. I have taken to a Friday night splurge of sorts.

Cheat Alert: Last week I had a lamb gyro. This week a Moe’s burrito. I try to keep the splurge as healthy as possible but what can I say – “I need a break”.





Day 15: I almost broke

Long day at work. Drove home and immediately had to take one of my brood to a doctor’s appointment. Finally got back home a little after eight.  No dinner yet. Another kid to tuck in bed. Catching up with the family and I did not want to work out… but I did. Chest and back plus ab ripper. I did jump to the next exercise after I worked to failure on an exercise – this saved a few minutes. But I DID work out.

Cheat Alert: Later on I fell victim to a Mallow Cup – just one, not a pair. My first candy in 2 weeks. So bad – but so goooood.
