P90X Supplements

Once again, my frugal (aka cheap) side says “The P90X Supplements have got to be way overpriced – I’m sure I can find a similar product for less”. I am interested in the “Results and Recovery” product. I was able to get a copy of the ingredients and a price but guess what  – no where does the website tell the size. Ditto for the Performance bars. What is the deal with that?!
Here. Have a look for yourself. Plus, Beachbody once again is trying to wring more money out of me by setting up an automated monthly delivery of products even though I do not know the size / qty of said products.

I had a good conversation with Ian at The Vitamin Shoppe and settled on Matrix sustained release protein blend. As far as I can tell it is similar but has a lower concentration of carbs. Whatever.

Shopping for supplements is a lot like buying a mattress. The manufacturers create their own non-sensicle terms and make a dizzying array of (likely near identical) items to fill the shelf space.

My P90X shipment has arrived

Update on the ordering process.
Good news is that my P90X shipment arrive on Thursday morning via UPS ground. Since I ordered it late on a Sunday night I’ll call this a three business day delivery.

I assume BeachBody was “playing it safe” with their stated two days processing and then a 3-5 business day delivery. In actuality this is likely how they ship every order – but hey I understand the marketing psychology of offering FREE Express Shipping!

The one thing I would suggest is that they either do not say they will send you tracking info for your shipment, or say it and actually send it. If someone plops down $150 for your product give them the feeling that you appreciate it and get them excited by letting them know it’s on the way.

I will dig into the package and report back later. As suspected, the diet portion – which I believe is going to be the hardest part of the program for me – looks daunting at first glance.

P90X Order Process

I placed my online order late Sunday night. It is now Wednesday morning and no confirmation email yet (although I did see the funds zip out of my account).

Preparation to Start:
I already owned a (dusty) set of Reebok SpeedPak 25 lb dumbbells. I got a set of 12lb dumbbells for my daughter. I do have some concern that the dumbbells might not be heavy enough but I assume that if I am doing reps of anything for an hour they should be sufficient.

Looked at a couple of workout mats but decided to use thick beach towels to start. More later.
